Full Support For Climate Deal in Consensus between Australian Government and The Opposition

I would like to give full supports for the efforts that have been made by the Australian Goverment in their democracy system with the opposition to make a great deal to cure the instability of climate change.

This agenda is not only for our "labels" such as our private interests, parties, group, etc but this agenda is for the humanity and climate stability of the earth. The climate change has happened and it gets worse every year. We have to tackle to this crises, unite and make consensus to cure and prevent any disasters to human nature and this earth. Let's leave our "label" and work together to make a better planet for humanity and nature.

THERE will not be a leadership spill tonight, Sky News reports quoting Liberal sources.

However a challenge could be looming in the Coalition partyroom after Malcolm Turnbull is believed to have declared victory on his climate change deal despite uncertain numbers.

A marathon party room meeting broke up just after 7pm (AEDT) when Mr Turnbull is believed to have made the call while senators were in the Senate chamber for a division.

A Liberal source said that Mr Turnbull accepted the deal as supported, even though the number of speakers at a Coalition party room meeting were 46 against to 33 for the deal.
Mr Turnbull has already survived one call for a leadership spill, The Australian reports.

Max Power of Adelaide - the ETS does not put any money in the government's wallet. The permits are traded across an open market, the govt receives nothing.

After a bombshell call from Liberal frontbencher Andrew Robb for the Coalition to reject Labor’s emissions trading deal, rebel Liberal MP Wilson Tuckey moved a spill motion against the leader.

But it failed to secure support.

Mr Robb’s decision to oppose the leader’s call for a deal with Labor follows open defiance from Senate leader Nick Minchin and the decision of Tony Abbott to also reverse his support for a deal.

Liberal sources said that Mr Tuckey had warned Mr Turnbull that unless he decided to allow the party a secret ballot he would again call a leadership spill at 10am (AEDT) on Thursday. The deal, finalised between the Government and Opposition last night after five weeks of difficult negotations, includes extra help for carbon emitters such as the coal, electricty and gas industries once pollution caps are set.

The deal was rubber stamped by the Cabinet and shadow Cabinet this morning, but Mr Turnbull was unable to convince Opposition MPs to support it after a four-hour meeting this morning. The meeting continued after Question Time.

The issue is seen as a crucial test for Mr Turnbull's leadership. Mr Turnbull's supporters said before the meeting that he would get a decent majority for the deal.  But critics had always promised a fight.

The deal includes an extra $1.28 billion over the next four years and $7 billion over 10 years.  There will be $910 million in cuts to the package for households to help pay for the new spending. But Prime Minister Kevin Rudd denies poor families will be worse off from the changes.

"We don't intend ... low-income families to shoulder the pain of the adjustment," he said.
The rest of the money will come from savings thanks to the stronger Australian dollar.
The Prime Minister has told Coalition MPs to rise to the occasion and get behind what he called an "environmentally credible, fiscally responsible" deal.

"Failing to act today is to roll the dice on our children’s future. I will not risk our future … by betting against the climate change science," he said.

"My request to all members of Parliament today is simple: act in the national interest, not in your party’s interest.  Act for the future, not for the past."

Opposition MPs are understood to be upset that they only have a few hours to make up their minds on the deal.

The Greens have said the new deal is still too soft on polluters.  "It's polluters' pay day," leader Senator Bob Brown said.

The ETS puts a cap on carbon pollution and then issues permits to pollute up to that capped amount.  Companies which pollute less than their allocated permit would be able to sell the remainder of their permits to those which exceed their cap.

In what has been described as a "shot across the bow" from disaffected Liberals, former minister and climate change sceptic Kevin Andrews refused to deny he had been sounded out about taking over from Mr Turnbull should he fail in the deal.

"At the moment we have a leader. I am a loyal servant of the people of Australia, hopefully, and my party, and I'll do whatever job people regard as appropriate for me to do," he said on Sky News last night.
Mr Rudd and Senator Wong are insisting the deal must be done this week.  The sceptic bloc is angry that they have only three days to digest and debate the changes, but Mr Rudd has suggested parliamentary sitting days could be extended if necessary.
